Soundtrack:
It's time we book a boat. Seems easy enough...just call up a marina in Powell and rent something we can afford. Surely there will be enough boats to rent. Wrong. ARAMARK is the only company that rents boats at Powell. They are flat booked. Don't fret. I semi-planned on this happening.
What we'll do instead (and what most do) is buy a share of a houseboat via craigslist or some other classifieds. The cost will be the same, we get the boat for an entire week (not that that matters) and in the following years, if anybody wants to revisit Powell, we'll have our week already purchased (plus more in the fall/spring).
The downside is I'll have to cover the maintenance costs in the following years (1500ish/year) or sell the share. Selling the share is harder than it sounds but eating 1500/year I'm willing to do for this trip.
With all that said, it's time to start scouring craigslist and KSL.com for a share. A couple of options.
Boat 1
This seems like a real winner. We all love writing on cardboard (show us your tits!) and I'm sure one of us will get a tatoo of some sort to be a part of this "gang". Not to mention Paul loves gay shit so I'm pretty sure this is a great fit.
Boat 2
This is an ad for FULL ownership of a boat. That's right, we'd own the whole thing for 10k. I say we offer 5k for this boat and see what happens. How can this possibly be a bad idea? Sure the boat is tiny as shit and was built before most of us were born but hell, it's got a slide and we can always burn it to the ground (water?) as we leave. Epic. I vote we do this.
So...which one? Neither? Really? I thought I'd have you all at "gay shit". Bummer.
As temps go up and people start to plan their summers more of these weeks start to pop up so I'll keep my eyes on craigslist and KSL.com. Feel free to make any suggestions and if I find something (unless you all want to try to buy the tiny boat...seriously!!!) I'll post it up.
